Why ski in Zakopane

Over recent years, Skiing in Zakopane has become a really popular place for International tourists. Previously, it was only known by locals and Polish tourists who travelled from all over the country. They visited the area and took advantage of all the wonderful activities zakopane has on offer. Again we ask ‘Why ski in Zakopane‘?

The ski areas are being extensively developed and expanding in size each year. There has been a lot of money invested in the areas future. The best ski area, Bialka Tatrzanska, has evolved massively over the last few seasons. It once had just one short ski run to now being the largest ski area in Poland. There are now new modern chairlifts with heated seats.  There are restaurants at the top and bottom of most runs and a world class 4*Hotel plus a thermal aqua park right next door to the slopes.

Zakopane is still hanging on to its own currency, the Zlotych and has not ‘yet’ converted to the Euro. This means that it is surprisingly cheap for other Europeans. A top class meal in town could cost you as little as £5 per person, plus a beer is just £1.50. Compare this to a resort in the Alps where you wouldn’t pay less and 20Euros for a simple meal and 4 Euro for a beer.

What makes Zakopane special?

Zakopane is unlike any other ski resort in the world. The surrounding location, the highlander culture and the unique Architecture all make Zakopane a unique and beautiful destination for your skiing holiday this winter. Not only is it cheap and affordable for beginners or family groups, but it is the added value that the areas brings that will make it truly special.

The main ski area that we use at Addventure Tours is Bialka Tatrzanska. Bialka has a range of green, blue and red runs. The top class snow making facilities ensure that great skiing conditions are kept for the whole season (from around 5th December – end of March). Temperatures in Zakopane and Bialka Tatrzanska can range from as high as +5 degree to as low as -30 degrees. Yes, you heard that correctly -30… This usually occurs for just a couple of days each season and all you need to do is layer up and enjoy some hot chocolate

Christmas and New Year in Zakopane are highly festive and truly great experiences. If you like firework shows, then a New Year’s celebration in Zakopane will blow your mind.

Of course like in any ski resort, the quietest time to travel is after the holidays and festive season. In Zakopane, early March is a great time if you like quiet slopes, smaller queues at the lofts and less lines at the bar.
